The market potential for products in the surgical securement field is driven by a combination of new technologies coming to market and expanding application caseloads. The potential for these products will grow steadily over the coming decade as surgical practices improve and the benefits of new products address the requirement for fast and effective closure.MedMarket Diligence forecasts that approximately 70 million procedures around the world might benefit from sealants, glues, and other wound closure products in this group. Select products and applications will grow at rates near 20% annually. In the next few years, we will see strong penetration of new therapies into new procedure areas, and some new introductory techniques for treatment of orthopedic, cardiovascular and neurological procedures, particularly in the second half of this decade, when several new products and procedures will appear in all of these categories.A number of market leaders have consolidated their positions within the surgical closure and securement markets through successful internal development programs and through technology partnerships with innovative vendors of next generation technologies. For example, U.S. Surgical and Ethicon are major suppliers of cyanoacrylate products in the USA; with dominant sales resource to sell these products these companies lead the market, although they will face competition from the Canadian company Glustitch, the UK-based MedLogic and others.

Synovis has targeted cardiovascular and other procedures, and has a range of closure products and has recently partnered with GEM to develop and exploit GEM's internal high strength glue product (Glubran) in the USA. The market remains replete with competitors, including Focal (Genzyme Biosurgery), Angiotech BioMaterials (Cohesion Technologies), Fusion Medical, Confluent Surgical, CryoLife, Medchem (C.R. Bard), Tissuemed, Surgical Sealants, Ethicon/Closure Medical, U.S. Surgical (Tyco Group), Haemacure, MedLogic Global (Advanced Medical Solutions), GEM srl, Chemence, Glustitch, Berlin Heart, and many others. The "Worldwide Surgical Sealants, Glues and Wound Closure Market, 2004-2014" report, published January 2005, covers sealants, glues, tapes, sutures, staples, hemostats, fibrin sealants/glues, and medical adhesives.

The report details the clinical and technology developments underlying growth and opportunity in the market, detailing products on the market and under development, with detail on market size and forecast, competitor market shares, competitor profiles and market opportunity. Details of the report, including table of contents and list of exhibits, are available at http://www.mediligence.com/rpt-s122.htm.

As usual, I walked into the Starbucks for my morning coffee. Enjoying my morning coffee in Starbucks has been a routine since a year back. Now, everything in that particular Starbucks seems so familiar. Even the customers looked similar. Just as I was walking to my favorite table with my warm coffee, I notice a lady meddling with her personal computer while sipping her drink.

I took a glance and swore that face looked familiar. Anyway I thought my memory might not have fully awakened and so continued my walk towards my table. Now, I sat facing straight to this demure lady and suddenly it struck me, she was a well-known internet marketer, let's call her My Rich Mum. I was planning to start my own e-book business and have been surfing for more information and her picture always seems to pop up in e-book sites. I knew I needed a mentor like Rich Mum if I wanted to start a successful e-book business.

I was usually a shy person but at that moment, some part of me told me to get my back off the seat and walk towards her. Well, I did just that. I approached Rich Mum and started a conversation. I introduced myself and told her I was planning to start an e-book business and asked if she had any tips or advice. All she did was to pull a card out of her purse and told me to only open the card when I reached home.

The "namecard size" card was wrapped in a light blue wrapper. Rich Mum then wrote her personal contact number on the back of the card and told me to read, adsorb and understand the contents of the card. Her instructions were for me to understand the contents and to call her the day after. Not knowing what else to do, I thanked her and went back to my now cold coffee. That day after work, I went home all excited, ready to unveil the contents of the card.

As I carefully removed the beautiful blue wrapper, I saw the contents of the card:My Personal Guide to an E-Book Business1. Choose my topic2. Write my E-book3. Create my website4. Accept payments5.

Promote my website That was all the contents on the card, simple and logical and yet so divine. I started to break down the contents one by one and tried surfing the internet for more information and voila, that was it. The 5 steps are all I need for my e-book business. I couldn't wait until the day after; I had to call Rich Mum the following day for a meet up. I wanted to know what the contents meant to her.

Rich Mum, being the kind lady she was, agreed to meeting me for lunch. This time, I armed myself with a new pen and notepad. Finally at 1.30pm, I got to meet Rich Mum again. This time, she started her speech with a serious tone: "Jay, if you wish to understand more about the contents on the card I gave you, you will have to pay me $1000." I wrote Rich Mum a cheque on the spot. Hey, she was a famous internet guru and people would pay up to the thousands for by the hour consultation.

Soon we were discussing about e-books and I was busy trying to jot down everything she said, word for word, sentence for sentence. The moment came when she started to explain the contents on the card she had gave to me earlier the day before. This was it, I specifically told Rich Mum to speak slower. (My hands were tired by now!) The following was what Rich Mum said exactly:"Choose my topicThis is where most people would take tons of time during their creation of their e-book business. Trust me, people climb onto the e-book wagon with only one objective in mind, making as much money as possible.

Your first priority should be adding as much value as possible, when you do that, people will automatically part their money with you. Before you plunge into choosing any topic, always ask yourself the following questions:"What do I do for a living?""What are the types of knowledge I have?""What am I interested in?" "Are there secrets I have that people might be very interested in?"The above questions should lead you to adding value to a certain group of people and earning money at the same time. Write my e-bookOnce you have the above step covered, once you already have your topic, writing your e-book should be a breeze. You do not need distinctions in English to write an e-book. People love e-books which are written in a more casual tone and not a stern go by the book tone.

I always create my table of contents first, and then simply proceed to elaborate on the points I wish to bring forth. It's really that simple. After completing that e-book, I almost always convert my e-book into a PDF file, so that more eyeballs will be able to read it. The PDF format is friendly with most desktop platforms. Please always format sentences to be of 1.5 spacing and try to use larger fonts.

This is because of the fact that it is always harder to read on the computer screen as compared to a hard copy. Create my websiteYour e-book website is not going to be a complicated website full of programming jargon. All you really need is two important pages, namely the Sales Page and the Thank You Page. The sales page will be where you show visitors your sales letter; it is the showcase of your e-book business. The thank you page is where you will have a link for the download of your product; in this case your product is your e-book.

You can be a total computer idiot and yet own e-book businesses. A great tip to creating that website is to reply on friends who are well-versed in web designing. There is absolute no need to hire expensive web designers to do the same job a student web designer would do for a lunch treat. That was how I started my first e-book business back in 1997.Accepting paymentsA lot of people start their e-book businesses to make money, you need to start your e-book business to add value and then to make money. An E-book business always accepts credit card payments due to the fact that the credit card is the number one paying tool over the internet.

To accept credit card payments, you will need a merchant account that will process your customer's cards and make sure payment is made. There are a few third party merchant accounts that will handle all credit card payments for your e-book businesses. The best part is you do not pay until you make a sale. Promote your siteThis is going to be the most difficult part of your e-book business. The hard fact is that Sales is directly proportional to Traffic.

The most traffic you can get to your site, the more sales you will make. There are a couple of great ways to generate traffic to your site. One of these ways is to create a free e-book, report or course. All you do next is to send out the free e-books, reports or courses in anywhere possible and see the traffic pouring into your site. Remember, people are always looking for free information over the internet, so if you are able to provide great free information to people, they will spend on your website."There you have it, the 5 steps to an e-book business unveiled.

My hands were trembling by now. After an hour of hardcore e-book coaching, Rich Mum was ready to leave for her game of tennis, leaving me to adsorb the notes I have just taken. * For your information, Rich Mum tore the cheque and before leaving, she whispered: "People will always be more committed after parting with their money."

Amid an increasingly healthy-food conscious society, and within a $2 billion per year nutrition bar market, a December 2004 consumer research report entitled "The experiEmotive? Drivers of Purchasing Nutrition Bars" has pinpointed the key emotions and feelings that drive consumers to buy nutrition bars. In doing so, the report provides comprehensive direction for emotion-based nutrition bar marketing and addresses a challenge for nutrition product companies to develop stronger brands with clear-cut positioning. The challenge was put forth within a March 2004 Frost & Sullivan report, The U.S. Sports and Fitness Nutrition Markets. The Frost & Sullivan report claimed that "[most participants in the sports/nutrition industry find themselves struggling to retain customer loyalty. Developing strong brands with distinct identities and clear-cut positioning holds the key to overcome this challenge." The study behind the experiEmotive? report was conducted by experiEmotive? analytics.

Their researchers observed nutrition bar shoppers in a variety of stores and conducted two-hour in-depth interviews with people who had recently purchased a nutrition bar. The report summarizes five emotional themes (called Key Chains) that nutrition bar manufacturers and marketers can use as foundations for their brands' positionings. Two of the five emotional themes are:?Control and Security ?Self-Image Connectedness.Related to Control and Security, when buying nutrition bars some people strive to feel relaxed, trusting, and secure, but often feel helpless, uncertain, and insecure. Related to Self-Image Connectedness, when buying nutrition bars some people strive to feel unique, connected, and free, but often feel alienated, lost, and insecure. The report also summarizes eight functional goals that people have when they shop for nutrition bars.

Two of the eight functional goals are:?Illness Management?Appetite Management.Furthermore, the report provides more than 30 detailed diagrams (called experiEmotive? Maps) that illustrate specific experiences people have when they shop for nutrition bars and how people feel when they have those experiences."We recognize that triggering the proper emotions is crucial, if not essential, to more sophisticated branding," writes Paul Conner, CEO (Chief Emotive Officer), experiEmotive? analytics. "Whatever is done with marketing nutrition bars, emotion and feeling must be built into it."experiEmotive? analytics is a consumer research company that specializes in discovering the "experience-to-emotional motive chains" that drive consumer behavior. Discovering these chains enables more effective emotionally-fueled marketing, particularly product designs, brands, positionings, advertising, and sales and customer service approaches.

Free stuff sites make up a very decent percentage of all sites on the internet. You can get anything from free screensavers to free software to free iPods to free vacations on the internet. Obviously other than a very few select products none of them are 'truly' free. They are not even a 'shareware kind' of product. Most of these schemes will expect a certain action to be performed to claim the 'free stuff'.Normally, signing up to an offer from an advertiser, referring friends to a site or service or buying a related product all are examples of the 'actions' expected.

For example, the free iPod offer that took over the internet by craze works on the premise that each person will refer 5 of their friends to the scheme as well as sign up to a few sponsor offers himself. What is surprising is that out of all these offers, there are very few that are webmaster-centric. You hardly find offers for free domains, free webhosting or free traffic when you sign up for an offer. This is probably because the cost of these services or products are too low to warrant much interest. It can also be that webmasters prefer more direct forms of rewards like cash.It is not that there are absolutely no free domain offers on the net. There are a few but their 'action' expected is either to buy hosting or to sign up and post at forums.

The first scenario is a little scary because most web hosting companies will register the 'free' domain in their own name. So if want to change the web host, you lose the domain name and with it all the hard work you put in to develop the brand image. That leaves the posting at forums option. Well, if you asked me to post, say 50 messages and all of reasonable length (atleast 10 - 15 words), it will take me a month. This assumes that I also have something better to do! I cannot wait that long for a domain even if it is free. From experience, it is seen that a webmaster will never refuse a free domain name.

For that matter no one will will refuse a free thing if there is no catch involved. A webmaster should be willing to sign up for a free offer or two in exchange of a free domain. If such a scheme were available it should be quite sucessful. May be not as much as the free iPods schemes but atleast 50% as effective as them. If the free offer does not involve disclosure of credit card information, it will be the icing on the cake! This is exactly what I have been working out.

You sign up for an offer. If it is a valid sign up then I buy you a domain name. No credit card information required and no obligation too. That simple. The only condition is you must be from the US and must fill up the information required (name, email, address etc) honestly.

As soon as I recieve confirmation of the signup (usually 2-3 days) you get your domain name. And, yes these are not pharmaceutical or gambling offers, you need to sign up to recieve more information from an online education university. Can it get better than that?

(ContentDesk via PressReleaseHelp) April 5, 2005 ?- Degree.com, a leading online resource for distance learning degrees, is now offering for free its $200 program teaching people how to get college credit for what they already know. "This is the best kept secret in higher education today," said Sheila Ring, spokesperson for Degree.com. "Our site now has everything there is to know to help people obtain a college degree from a fully accredited college in one year or less."Degree.com formerly sold a $200 CD with instructions on how anyone in the world can complete a college degree in less than a year, based on what they already know or starting from scratch. Now Degree.com has everything there is to know on its Web site for free. The free information now available on Degree.com covers how to take exams to get college credit and how to complete a fully accredited, four-year bachelor's degree in one year or less, without ever having to enter a classroom.

"You can easily test-out of all of the courses," Ring said. "And the cost of the education is among the lowest in the country. Nothing short of a scholarship will get you college credit and a degree cheaper than this."The program also helps people get college credit for courses and workshops they have already completed, for military experience and prior learning assessment portfolios. According to U.S. Census Bureau statistics, people with a bachelor's degree earn over 60 percent more on average than those with only a high school diploma.

Over a lifetime, the gap in earning potential between a high school diploma and a B.A. (or higher) is more than $1 million. Despite this huge gap in earnings, only 21 percent of all adults over the age of 25 have college degrees. In a national newspaper survey asking what the readers' biggest regrets were, most Americans said that they regretted not continuing with their education. There is no longer an excuse for this, Ring says.

"If there is a little voice inside of you that tells you that you deserve college credit for what you already know; if you believe you know more than the new employee with a college degree; and if you are willing to commit two hours a day, then you are one year away from your college degree. And your degree does not say that is a distance learning degree or a degree achieved through test taking or prior learning."It is designed for the adult learner who has college level skills and wants a college degree quickly and affordably. It is not about finding different programs that are available via distance learning or a list of online college degree programs.

More than 40 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and stakeholders in civil society from around the world have signed an Open Letter to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) supporting FAO's new report in favor of using agricultural biotechnology to help meet the needs of the poor and undernourished. The signatories to the Open Letter supporting the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are from countries in both the North and the South, including India, Pakistan, Nigeria, South Africa, Canada, the U.S., and European countries in both the East and the West. This broad support for biotechnology on behalf of the poor contrasts with some groups opposed to biotechnology. Those groups expressed their dissatisfaction with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report in an Open Letter released in June of this year.Far from "abandoning the poor," as those groups have suggested, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report is specifically focused on how agricultural biotechnology can best be used to meet the needs of the poor and malnourished. Both the Open Letter and the UN report acknowledge that "while there are potential risks from the use of agricultural biotechnology, the potential benefits are both large and greatly needed, given the challenges humanity faces in feeding a larger, more affluent population from an already limited land and resource base."The Open Letter in support of the UN report applauds the agency for a balanced and reasoned document and for moving the debate about agricultural biotechnology beyond polarizing rhetoric toward the question of how best to apply that technology to help feed needy populations.

ndependent travel in Europe - Seven Secrets for SuccessOne: Do not try to see and do too much. You may end up actually seeing very little. I think it is better to see more of fewer countries/regions and see them properly.? You may not want to stay in one location for your whole trip. However if you choose carefully it may be possible to do several day trips from one central location.? If you do decide to tour, consider spending at least two nights in some of your destinations.? It can be quite tiring being on the move every day, packing and unpacking.?Two: Decide on mode of transport.Driving will give you more flexibility but can be daunting at times and is not recommended if you mainly wish to visit cities. You may decide to take your own car if you live in Europe.? If you fly you can hire a car.? Beware of extra charges for additional drivers, insurance excesses, airport charges, out of hours charges etc.? I always book a hire car through a UK company, with no excess.

If you use a budget airline try to only book direct flights.? If you book a two let journey, the budget airlines will not assist you, as they only operate a point to point service. Public transport is pretty good in most of Europe. There are also several budget airlines you can use between countries e.g. Ryanair and Easyjet.?Three: Be aware of security of possessions.Use a money belt, hotel safe etc.? Do not have all your money/cards in one purse or wallet.? If you lose it you are in trouble.? This happened to me when I was in Milan: I was travelling alone and was left penniless.? My credit card company did transfer funds to me but it took 24 hours!? I had to borrow 10 euros from the hotel receptionist.? Make sure you have travel insurance and if there is an incident get a written report from the local police station, to enable you to make a claim.?Four: Try to learn at least a few words of the language. This will be greatly appreciated. My French is what you might describe as school girl (that was 25 years ago) but I do try when in France.? Often I receive the reply in English but at least I tried.? I always apologise if I cannot speak the language.? I don't assume that the person I am talking to should speak English, I ask in their language if they speak English.? As I do have a Scottish accent, I try to speak more slowly and clearly than usual, certainly not raising my voice.Five: Don't be too structured. You should allow some time just to wander around, enjoy a leisurely lunch.

You do have to plan an itinerary, or you can just waste a lot of time, but it doesn't have to be written in stone!? Allow yourself the opportunity to be spontaneous.?Six: Don't just stick to tourist traps.Try to visit some authentic local restaurants, markets, villages, etc. where you will meet local people, rather than just other tourists.? Surely part of the reason for going abroad it to experience at least a little of the local flavour, not just spend all your time with other tourists.Seven: Book your accommodation in advance. This may mean that you miss out on a charming establishment you come across in your travels, (you could always stay there on your another trip). However it will mean that you don't waste precious time going from hotel to hotel trying to find a room, having to arrive early enough at your next destination to look for accommodation. I am not even convinced that you save money by last minute searches..

A loss of a job, death in family, medical expenses and other life-altering situations can happen to anyone, causing us to fall behind in our mortgage loan payments. If we neglect paying our credit cards it hurts our credit rating; if we neglect our home loan payments the lender will foreclose, and repossess our home.We are often embarrassed to talk about our money problems, but that approach doesn't solve anything. Put your pride on hold and get serious about avoidingforeclosure.Contact your lender as soon as you know your payments will be late. Never ignore the lender's letters and do not assume you are in a hopeless situation. Lenders do not want to foreclose, and will usually work with you to get your account back on track.Below are Solutions for Temporary Problems1.ReinstatementWhen you are behind in your payments but can promise a lump sum to bring payments current by a specific date.2.ForbearanceYou are allowed to delay payments for a short period, with the understanding that another option will be used afterwards to bring the account current.Lenders sometimes combine Forbearance with Reinstatement if you know you'll have the funds to bring your account current by a specific date.3.A Repayment PlanIf your account is past due, but you can now make payments, the lender may agree to let you catch up by adding a portion of the past due amount to each currentmonthly payment until your account is current.Solutions for Longer-Term Problems1.Mortgage ModificationIf you can make your regular payment now, but cannot catch-up the past due amount, the lender may agree to modify your mortgage.

One solution is to add the past due amount into your existing loan, financing it over a long term.Modification might also be possible if you no longer have the ability to make payments at the former level. The lender might modify your mortgage to extend the length of your loan, or take other steps to reduce your payments.2.Selling Your HomeIf catching up is not a possibility, the lender may agree to put foreclosure on hold, giving you some extra time to attempt to sell your home. www.wesellhomesdfw.com can help by purchasing your home.3.Deed in Lieu of ForeclosureThe lender may allow you to give-back your property, in turn forgiving the debt. This does negatively affect your credit record, but not as much as a foreclosure. The lender may require that you attempt to sell the house for a specific time period before allowing this option; the option may not be possible if there are other liens against the home.http://www.wesellhomesdfw.com.

Union Built PC, Inc. has announced its new software package for labor unions, dubbed Union Coordinator. Entirely web-based, it began life as a daily planner/meeting scheduler and evolved into the sophisticated tool it is today, with the added ability to track and report the new LM 2 reporting requirements instituted by the Department of Labor (DOL) for unions beginning their fiscal year on or after July 1 of 2004. "The unfortunate part of all this is that the Republican effort to burden labor unions with even more administrative tasks and reporting succeeded. It was fought back briefly, but we have to live under it now," said Rich Mata, Recording Secretary of UWUA Local 223 in Dearborn, Michigan.

"This package does the trick for us, and it saves us months of administrative staff time." The new DOL rules will force unions to track staff time and expenses by five distinct categories (for example, "Political Activities and Lobbying," and "Administrative Overhead") that they then have to report out at the end of the year. The DOL itself estimated that these additional rules and tracking items will add approximately 4 months of staff time to local and International unions' yearly workload. "We have calculated it very carefully, and we estimate our software will gain those locals back at least 3 of those 4 months. It's that good," says Pete Marchese, East coast Regional Coordinator for Union Built PC, Inc. and retiree from CWA Local 1101 in New York.

"Additionally, as a company we focus on and have decades of experience with labor unions, so we know what they face on a daily basis." To arrange a demo or an on-site consultation, contact Union Built PC at http://www.unioncoordinator.com , or (877) 728-6466. Union Built PC is organized by UWUA Local 223, IBEW Local 17, and CWA Local 1101..

In this ethics-focused continuing education activity, Dr. Mark Komrad reviews the history of medical ethics and explains basic concepts used in formal ethical reason and some of the methods whereby those concepts can be applied to the rigorous thinking-through of an ethical dilemma.

Specific ethical codes developed for various professions are examined.
