MHA is a private, nonprofit, United Way agency serving Montgomery County, Maryland.Statement of NeedEthics is an issue that dominates today's headlines. Ethics is a core aspect of the definition of a profession, and the oldest profession to have developed a consciousness of ethics is medicine. It is from the trunk of medicine and its ethics that all mental health professions have sprouted. In this ethics-focused continuing education activity, Dr. Mark Komrad reviews the history of medical ethics and explains basic concepts used in formal ethical reason and some of the methods whereby those concepts can be applied to the rigorous thinking-through of an ethical dilemma.
Specific ethical codes developed for various professions are examined. Finally, specific ethical issues and dilemmas pertaining to the practice of mental health are reviewed.FacultyMark S. It started out like any other Sunday morning.
My wife Stephanie and daughter Allie and I got in the car to drive 20 minutes to morning church service.
The radio was still on from the night before playing low in the background. WLW in Cincinnati, I had been listening to the Reds play the Giants out on the west coast on my drive home from the office late Saturday night.
A special report came on the radio and consciously none of us were paying attention to it, I can vaguely remember something about crash and Lexington, Ky.
When the report ended, I asked my wife & daughter did they just say something about an airplane crash in Lexington Kentucky?
Neither of them had consciously focused on the report or heard anything.
I immediately changed the channel to a local Lexington station, and for the next 18 minutes all three of us listened in shock as the tragic details...

Making a Credit Card Work For You
Boosting Your Credit-Rating With A Well-Managed Credit Card
A considerable obstacle standing between many Americans and the consumer goods they consider a necessary or desirable part of life is a ready way to pay for them.
From a new piece of furniture to a car or even a house an age old problem stands in their way: MONEY ? or rather how to get hold of it.
A lucky few earn enough to never have to worry about this problem.
Many more consumers have lenders simply falling over themselves with offers of credit.
For a lot of people, however, a poor credit history or a low credit rating stands as an inexorable difference between living the life they want, and looking with perpetual envy at their neighbor.
Even relatively low cost essentials, such as a vacuum cleaner or television set, can be too expensive if a way of spreading the initial cost is not available.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
